This book of short stories is great, but I read all of these but the first one,"The Privileged". The other stories are in Jan Burke's book "Eighteen". So if you read all of Jan Burke's book, you are only getting one new short story. The Privileged is a good read. It an Irene Kelly story about her future husband,Frank Harriman when he just starting out as a beat cop. Jan Burke does not disappoint.

I buy everything Jan Burke writes. She has never failed to entertain me with her fascinating story-telling. Frequently her writing is based on a mystery or a crime. She has extensive knowledge of police procedures, investigative techniques and human behavior, but it is her inventive imagination that makes her writing so good. The plot may be intricate and unexpected, the characters may be warm and likable or evil and fearsome. I never know what to expect except that I will be richly entertained and will have a "keeper" for my library.
It was OK.
She has your absolute attention from the beginning. I think she is the best author in this genre hands down!
I love anything Jan Burke writes.
I've read every Jan Burke mystery and she never disappoints me. I enjoyed these short stories & am looking forward to her next novel.
